AquaColors – The Largest Waterpark in Croatia

When you stay at a five-star hotel, the morning breakfasts in Europe are off the hook! Multiple styles of croissants, dozens of cheeses and meats, fresh cooked everything, and cappuccinos to die for. As a result we didn’t make the super early departure that we had originally planned.

Even still we were on the road before 11 and at the waterpark before 1pm which ended up being perfect timing for a six hour group ticket.

Within minutes we were changed and in our rash guards, the only four rash guards in the entire park filled with pink-faced and red-backed Europeans. A note about diversity in this part of the world, there is none when it comes to skin color. We determined that diversity in Croatia is in body size which seem to come in medium, large, and XXXL. There is also diversity in the form of tattoo quantity from none, to some, to where is their skin?

Because kids everywhere love water and slides we have been to more than a few water parks with the kids, usually in unusual locations like Bali or Turkey. So we can say with some authority that Aquacolors is a pretty dang good waterpark!

When we first arrived there were a few five minute lines but by the mid afternoon the lines had all but evaporated and we were all doing laps on our favorite rides. There were 15 slides in all and of course we did them all with the exception of the wave pool but never seems to be producing waves when we wanted to go.

Our favorite by far was the four person MagiCone which drops you down a steep shoot before sliding you up and down these massive walls and somehow invariably careening into the safety net.

We thought the water park Park closed at 6PM and the kids were delighted to discover that it closed at seven. It felt like an extra long encore from your favorite rock band!

Squeezing every last minute out of our visit we were back in the car at 7:05 for our hour and 20 minute ride to Opatija.

When traveling with four people hotel accommodations can be a challenge. Often there is rooms for three but rarely for four and buying two rooms can be expensive. We stayed at the Amadria Park Grand Hotel, directly overlooking the sea, and when Tom booked the place there was one suite that had two bedrooms and it cost less then buying two individual rooms. Furthermore, they offered a half board option that included parking for less than just parking alone. Needless to say we went for that. What time didn’t realize was the suite was also the biggest in the hotel and the oceanfront view from our massive balcony view was spectacular!

We made it down to dinner 30 minutes before closing time and made excellent use of the lovely buffet. Exhausted, we fell into our comfy bed just before 11.

Waterpark days are awesome!
