From the Coast to Plitvice
The Segos were heading to Ljubljanska today while the Compton’s were heading with us to Plitvice National Park, 2 hours from Opatija. The Compton’s picked up their rental car and joined us at our sumptuous buffet breakfast. Afterwards we all went up to the suite to change and after arranging a late check out made good use of the lounge chairs and pool. When the rain came for a brief spell, we moved to the indoor pool.
Around 1pm we set off for our inland adventure. It wasn’t long before the dry coast faded and a verdant pasture land revealed itself. Brad, Tom and the boys were in one car and Steph, Sue, Evie and Jack were in the other. Good thing too, for when the police stopped the girls and heard their American accents the police just smiled at ladies and waved them along.
By 4:30, we had arrived at adorable Sankorana. The “village” consists of a dozen houses all rental villas during the summer high season. Our chatty host showed us around the property including his gurgling waterfall.

After we got settled and explored a bit it we set off to town for dinner of meat, meat and more meat. Our dinner for 8 was just over $100, which was a pleasant surprise!
Back at our inn, we cozied into our beds listening to the never ending bubbling waterfall just outside our windows.
