Nothing is as easy as you hope

The day started off great. We made the 6am shuttle and but 6:20 we were in line #1 to check our bags. But not to Lhasa as we expected, only to Chengdu. Apparently we will need to collect our bags and re-check in when we arrive. Little do they know that that is when we were planning to watch Game 5!

As it turns out, we were just barely able to collect our luggage, transfer it at the transit lounge, and make it to our next flight to Lhasa. At the baggage claim, we saw the Warriors t-shirt wearing guy we saw in Shanghai. Seconds later he says, ” we are champions” and shows me his phone displaying the confetti raining down on Durant. So much for watching it delayed!

We celebrated by taking a selfie with a Steph Curry ad before scampering off to our flight.

We arrived in Lhasa and were met by our lovely guide Nyima. We drove the 90 minutes to the main sprawling city of Lhasa and arrived at our Tibetian hotel in the old part of town around 5pm almost exactly 36 hours since leaving our house in Palo Alto.

We were feeling the effects of the time change and the altitude but forced our selves to stroll a bit and eat dinner. The charms of Lhasa are readily apparent: narrow alley ways, red robed monks, and praying pilgrims. Evie said it best, “its like going back in time.” By 8:30pm with the sun just setting, we all crashed in our cozy beds.

We have made it to Tibet
