Saint-Malo for coastal cooling

What a beach! Our hotel is as close as you can get to the beach, directly on the promenade of Saint-Maio’s long sandy beach. The fluctuation between high tide and low tide is about 15 feet in the summer and can be as much is 30 feet in the winter.

After lovely classic French breakfast, we strolled the lovely promenade in the already warming morning which was cooled only by the constant breeze. We walked to the old city about 15 minute walk south and we had a really great lunch to calm the kids and cool the bodies.

After lunch, we circumnavigated the old town on the ramparts which was nice. After our walk, we return to the hotel and the kids immediately got into the water splashing and playing in the waist high waves. Farmor and Tom sat on the beach watching them frolic until it was time to go to our prearranged elegant dinner. We sent the kids off to get some crapes while we enjoyed a lovely two hour meal.

Unfortunately, it was so hot we had to ask them to put the shades down on our beautiful window view. After dinner we strolled back down the promenade to our hotel enjoying the sunset at 10pm. A lovely day at the coast.
